Things
to do within a few miles:
If you
enjoy walking or cycling, then there is plenty of open countryside right
on your doorstep, and we walk locally on the hills, or down by the river
which runs through the nearby countryside or the town.
There are plenty of
shops, restaurants and bars in the town of Guildford, quite a mixture
of trendy and traditional. Plus a couple of department stores...and we
tend not to go much further for shopping or eating out as there is a good
choice in or around the town and its outlying villages.
There are two local shopping malls, one in Guildford town centre, and
one in Woking town centre, only a few miles away.
Other
amenities around the town and just outside include a big leisure complex
with a big leisure pool with slide-rides and tubes/wave machine/jacuzzi
area, plus another 3 pools for kiddies, diving, and lane swimming. The
complex also contains an ice rink (home of the Guildford Flames ice hockey
team), and a big ten pin bowling alley, plus the usual squash, tennis
courts and kids soft play area. You will also find local parks with tennis
courts, putting green, plenty of golf courses and riding stables.
There is a big multi-screen
cinema complex and well known local theatre in both Guildford and Woking
(they both carry many pre-West end shows), and there are a number of children's
farms locally, so you should not be short of things to do.

Trains to London
There
are six trains to London every hour from Guildford main station. Four
of these are fast, taking about 35mins journey time to one of London's
main rail termini, London Waterloo.
Two per hour take
52mins, and also stop at a little local station on our side of the town,
only 15mins walk from the house. Since Guildford main station car park
is only about 10mins drive away across the town centre, we tend to use
that (I reckon it would take about 30mins to walk to the main station.
We think the house
is ideally situated, with good connections to London and yet away from
the hustle and bustle of the city and built up suburbs.
