Travelling to London:
You probably
only need rail travel to and from London Waterloo station, and then a
ticket which includes tubes, buses, and DLR in Zone 1 only (Most of the
sights of London are in Zone 1).
You can buy a ticket at Guildford which includes rail travel to and from
London, with tube and bus travel included.
Or you can buy a rail ticket at Guildford, and then a London "Travelcard"
from any London tube station.

My recommendation therefore is the Guildford to Waterloo, one day Travelcard
including Zone 1 buses/tube/DLR (off peak after 9.30am) £12.20.
However, if there is a large group of you travelling and you are confident
of driving, you could drive 45mins to Wimbledon (Zone 3 - one day travelcard
£6.20) or East Putney (Zone 2). Parking would have to be in a car
park costing around £10-15 (but you would be paying £4 to
park at Guildford station anyway.
